James F. "Jim" Brand, Sr.

James F. “Jim” Brand, Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on November 2, 1937, in Steelville, Missouri to the union of Everett R. and Edath M. (Gilliam) Brand. He left from this life on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Cuba Manor at the age of 85.

Jim was united in marriage to Mary Ann Josephine Dabrowski on April 11, 1959, in St. Louis. To this union four children were born James, Jr., Gerald, Jeff and Jeania.

Jim honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a fifty plus year member of Cement Mason Local #527 and a lifetime member of Cuba VFW Post #7147. Jim worked hard all of his life, in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Everett R. Brand, Joseph and Edath M. (Gilliam) Ackfeld; one daughter Jeania Brand; one brother Ronald Brand; one sister Janet Wilhite.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of nearly sixty-four years Mary Ann Brand of Cuba; three sons James F. Brand, Jr. of Cuba, Gerald (Julie) Brand of Cuba and Jeff (Kimberly) Brand of Sullivan; seven grandchildren Steven, Mikel, Ian, Adam and Danielle Brand, Justin Quisenberry and Heather Long; six great-grandchildren Scarlett, Vincent, Brody, Leana, Liam and Kenlea; one brother Richard (Judy) Brand of Nixa; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri and will continue Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Dan Lueckenotte as the celebrant.

Interment with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Holy Cross Catholic Church 415 W. School Ave. Cuba, Missouri 65453.
