Ivan Dale Martin of Cuba, Missouri was born May 25,1928 at Table Rock, Nebraska to the union of Carl and Ruth (nee: Edgar) Martin and left from this life on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 83 years 1 month and 18 days. Ivan was united in marriage to Mary Nivens on September 30, 1950 at Ferguson, Missouri and to this union two sons were born Dale and Patrick. Ivan proudly served his country in the United States Army from December 1950 to November 1952. He was an accountant for Emerson Electric in St. Louis for many years before moving to Cuba. He was the owner of M.K. Hardware in Cuba during the 1970's and owned Bronze Fabrications in Cuba from the late 1970's till the late 1980's. He never completely retired always doing part time jobs just to keep busy. He was a member of the Rolla Bible Church for 35 years. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, bird watching, golf, Blue Grass music, telling jokes and enjoyed buying and driving all different types of cars. But what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. Ivan was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ivan is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ruth Martin, one sister Donna Murray and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Mary Martin of the home, two sons Dale and wife Cynthia Martin of Webster Groves, Missouri and Patrick and wife Sherri Martin of Cuba, five grandchildren Diana and husband Kevin Paglush, Tiffany and husband Brad Poynter, Jacob and wife Christine Martin, Janice and husband Colin Burch and Chelsey and husband Alan Friedmann, five great grandchildren Kolbi Poynter, Seamus Burch, Kayden Friedmann, Haylei Poynter and Sophia Friedmann, one brother Edgar and wife Linda Martin of Dixon, Missouri, one sister Ruthene and husband Dick Krulik of Cuba, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, July 15, 2011 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 16, 2011 with Pastor Alex Busenitz officiating. Interment and prayers will follow at the Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri with full military honors. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Martin family.
