Irving James 'Irv' Hudson Jr.

Irving James "Irv" Hudson, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on May 17, 1936 in Gloucester, Massachusetts and left from this life on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 81 years. Irv was united in marriage to Betty Ruth Frederick, the love of his life, on April 1, 1961. Together they shared fifty-two years of marriage. Irv, also known to his family as Bunky, was the owner and operator of James Electric in Cuba for 45 years. He honorably served his country in United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed bargain shopping, the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with his family and friends. Irv is preceded in death by his mother Isabella Griffith; parents Arnold and Helen Sproule; wife Betty Ruth (Frederick) Hudson; one son Charles David O'Dell. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his seven children Frank and wife Liz O'Dell of Torrance, California, Madelyn and husband David Pettus of Linn, Missouri, Mike and wife Sally O'Dell of Topeka, Kansas, Gary O'Dell of Belle, Missouri, Jim and wife Cleta Hudson of Republic, Missouri, Randy and wife Lisa Hudson of Cuba, Missouri, Robin and husband Deter Swarnes of Rolla, Missouri; one sister Louise Osburn of Gilford, New Hampshire; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor David Pettus, officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Hudson family.
