Irene Elizabeth King

Irene Elizabeth King of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Leasburg, was born Wednesday, August 20, 1924 at Ashley, Illinois to the union of Frederick and Clara (nee: Doerfling) Sachmann and went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Cuba Manor at the age of 93 years. Irene was united in marriage to Wilbur King on July 1, 1950 at St. Louis, Missouri. Irene was the proud mother of Linda, Janet, Judy, Christine, Susan, Donald and Donna. Irene retired in 1984 from Ramsey Corporation after seventeen years of dedicated service as an inspector. Irene was a devout member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Leasburg for many years before her health began declining. Every spring they would plant a big garden and she would spend hours canning what they raised. She was always helping others by delivering Meals on Wheels and she was part of the Benevolence Ministry of Leasburg. After raising a large family, Irene enjoyed traveling with her husband. Irene enjoyed her cats and dogs and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. What she truly loved most in life was spending time with her family and friends. Irene was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Irene is preceded in death by her parents Frederick and Clara Sachmann, husband Wilbur King, two daughters Linda and Janet King, two brothers Charles Robert Sachmann and Donald Sachmann and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children; Judy and husband John Elms of Springfield, Missouri, Christine and husband Daniel Bilyeu of Lee Summit, Missouri, Susan and husband Joel Shackelford of Hardy, Arkansas, Donald and wife Donna King of Coral Springs, Florida and Donna and husband Duke Hamlin of Rochester, New York, twelve grandchildren; Jamie Ransom of Springfield, Missouri, Eric and wife Adriana Ransom of Bloomington, Illinois, Allen and wife Pam Ransom of Union, Missouri, Tina and husband Dennis Hymer of Ozark, Missouri, Chelsea Bilyeu and husband Jonathan Bulliung of New Orleans, Louisiana, Elaine Bilyeu of Kansas City, Missouri, Chris and wife Tanya Lawrey of Mobile, Alabama, Brad Lawrey of Hardy, Arkansas, Ashley and wife Lindsey Shackelford of Bentonville, Arkansas, Joey and wife Angela Shackelford of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Mandy and husband Nick Charles of Bethel, Alaska and Joshua and wife Kaylee Hamlin of Rochester, New York, fourteen great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 9:30 till 11:00 a.m. at the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Leasburg, 5958 Hwy H, Leasburg. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Leasburg with Pastor Don Hamlin officiating. Special song "Even Unto Death" by Brittany King and Melissa King, "Amazing Grace" by the congregation and recorded song "Beulah Land". Interment and prayers will follow at the Cross Roads Cemetery, Leasburg. Honored to serve as casket pallbearers are Joshua Hamlin, Eric Ransom, Allen Ransom, Christopher Lawrey, Brad Lawrey and Joseph Shackelford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross Roads Baptist Church in Irene's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the King family.
