Hilda A. Kretzmann of La Junta, Colorado was born August 17, 1913 at Cuba, Missouri to the union of Herman and Lydia (Nee: Niewald) Oberkrom and left from this life on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at La Junta, Colorado at the age of 100 years. Hilda was united in marriage to Theodore E. Kretzmann on February 22, 1934 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cuba, Missouri. To this union one son was born Donald Richard in 1942. In 1955 Hilda and Ted moved to Arizona to work at the Apache Lutheran Mission. In 1965 Hilda and Ted moved to Zambia, Africa and were missionaries for eleven years before returning to the states and moving to Colorado. Hilda is preceded in death by her parents Herman and Lydia Oberkrom, husband Ted Kretzmann, son Donald Richard Kretzmann, two brothers Emil Oberkrom and Fredrick Oberkrom, sister Viola Oberkrom and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her niece Ella and husband Kenneth Hoff of Webster Groves, Missouri, one nephew Herman and wife Ruby Oberkrom, great nieces, great nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1119 Amb Thompson Blvd, Las Animas, Colorado with Rev. Robert G. Glasgow officiating. Interment and prayers will be held at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri on Saturday, July 26, 2014 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Joseph Pederson officiating. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Luther Church of Las Animas in Hildaâââ¢s memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Hildaâââ¢s family.
