Herbert J. Ottermann

Herbert J. Ottermann of Cuba, Missouri was born on Monday, May 24, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Louis and Gladys (Myers) Ottermann. He left from this life at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the age of 84.

Herbert was united in marriage to Lois Jean Volner on April 29, 1961 in Cuba, Missouri. To this union three children were born Mark, Matthew and Nathan.

Herb was a retiree of Rolla Carpenters Union, he worked building homes for Martin, McKelvey, McBride and Whitaker construction companies. He enjoyed the farm life, raising his cattle, horses, mules and going to Keith Robinson’s Sale Barn. He could be found daily checking on his rental properties, aggravating whoever he ran into for the day and spending time with his family and friends.

Herb is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Gladys (Myers) Ottermann; wife Lois Jean (Volner) Ottermann; one son Mark Ottermann; two brothers Kenneth and Sonny Ottermann; one sister Lillian Hedrick.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his two sons Matthew and wife Diane Ottermann of Washington; Nathan and wife Cindy Ottermann of Cuba; seven grandchildren Josh, Justin, Ryan, Jeremy, Nicole, Jessica and Emily; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister Delores “Dee” Foster of St. Louis; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Bruno, officiating.

Honored to be serving as pallbearers Justin, Jeremy, Ryan, Scott, Adam and Jon.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Leukemia Society.
