Helen Marie Michalik of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Herbert J. and Anna J. (Steffen) Hamilton on January 29, 1923 in Cuba, Missouri. She left from this life on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Victorian Place in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 94 years. Helen was united in marriage to Joseph Michalik on April 10, 1943 in Cuba, Missouri and they were the proud parents of Diane and Donna. Helen was truly the "rock" of her family and she spent her life taking care of her home and family. She was an excellent baker and cook, especially her cinnamon rolls, bread, coffee cakes and chicken and dumplings. Helen held the honor of being the oldest member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cuba, where she had been an active member for many years. Helen is preceded in death by her parents Herbert J. and Anna J. (Steffen) Hamilton; husband Joseph Michalik; one grandson Tommy Hughes; three brothers George, James and William Edward Hamilton. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her two daughters Diane and husband Sonny Sparks of Cuba, Missouri, Donna and husband Michael Jett of Greenville, South Carolina; five grandchildren James and wife Kelly Hughes of Steelville, Missouri, Cheri Lynn and husband Terry Tune of Rolla, Missouri, Carolyn Sue and husband Danny Sanazaro of Cuba, Missouri, Sheila and husband Ronnie Green of Easley, South Carolina, Michael and wife Tina Jett of Sacramento, California; two sisters-in-law Rosemary Hamilton of Cuba, Missouri and Betty Hamilton of Washington, Missouri; ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 730 Fleenor Rd. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Joe Ed Pederson, officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Hamilton Cemetery. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Michalik family.
