Helen Louise Forester of Cuba, Missouri was born on Tuesday, May 20, 1930 in Florissant, Missouri to the union of Fred and Velma (Willox) Gregory. She left from this life surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at her son's home in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 90 years.
Helen was united in marriage to Eugene Forester on May 14, 1966 in Steelville, Missouri. Together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.
Helen worked at Brown Shoe Factory and later at a Garment Factory. She was an amazing candy maker and every Christmas season her kitchen would smell of chocolate and the many fragrances of candy making. Helen and Gene enjoyed creating delicious treats for friends and family. Their hobby became a little side business when friends and neighbors realized they could place candy orders as gifts or for personal enjoyment! Their special treats will certainly be missed! Along with being a talented candy maker, Helen enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, reading, playing bingo, fishing, dancing, and some good ole country music.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; three sons William Swarnes, Loren Swarnes, infant Terry Swarnes; two daughters Cindy DaPron and Gail Griffin; four brothers Fred and wife Nadine Gregory, Richard Gregory, Wilbur Gregory and Oran Gregory; four sisters Mary and husband Jerry Best, Lou Ella and husband Bob Hunt, June and husband Harry Tongay, Margaret Hawkins.
Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her two sons Fred Swarnes and Deter and wife Robin Swarnes of Rolla; step-daughter Gina McGinnis of Ava; one brother Elmer "Buck" and wife Anna Gregory of Cuba; two sisters Shirley and husband Gene Adair of Sullivan, Martha Ray of Salem; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 1-3 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 3:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Delashmit, officiating.
Interment will follow at Delhi Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Phelps Health Hospice or Dementia Research.
