Harold Melvin Rector, Jr. of Springfield, MO, formerly of Cuba, MO, entered into the presence of Almighty God on May 28, 2018 at the age of 64, after a four-month battle with brain cancer (glioblastoma). Harold was born on November 1, 1953 to the union of Harold (Bud) Rector and Alice Rector Glaese (nee Martin). Harold graduated from Cuba High School in 1971 and later Linn Technical College where he studied auto body technology. Harold worked several years utilizing his auto body degree, volunteered for several churches and schools, and worked at the Springfield Sheltered Workshop. In his free time he enjoyed doing puzzles, playing word games, and crocheting hangers. Harold lived at Joy Assisted Living in Springfield, MO from 2004 until January 2018 when he moved to Magnolia Square Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to live out his final days. The family would like to thank the caring employees of Joy Assisted Living, Magnolia Square, and Seasons Hospice for his excellent care. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Alice, his grandparents, William and Anna Martin and Frank and Elsie Rector, and other relatives. Harold is survived by his five siblings: Linda (Steve) New and Peggy (Gene) Gwennap of Springfield, MO, Diane (Randy) Lanning of Swansea, IL, Darlene (Charles) Patterson of Rolla, MO, and Martin (Jill) Rector of Wildwood, MO, his step-father, David Glaese of Springfield, MO, and nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cuba 606 Myrtle Ave. Cuba, Missouri . His care has been entrusted to the Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
