Gloria M. Hovis

Gloria M. Hovis of Cuba, Missouri was born on May 24, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of James and Dorothy (Prewett) Duncan. She left from this life at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the age of 82.

Gloria was united in marriage to Charles William Hovis on September 20, 1963, in St. Louis, Missouri. To this union two children were born Dianna and James.

Gloria was a homemaker. She loved taking care of her home and family. Gloria was a member of Amazing Grace Community Church, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents James and Dorothy (Prewett) Duncan.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving husband of fifty-nine years Charles William Hovis of Cuba; two children Dianna (Richard) DeWitt of Wildwood and James (Donna) Hovis of Beaufort; two grandchildren Morgan DeWitt and fiancé Patrick  Griffey of Wildwood and Emily Allen of Beaufort; one sister Carole (Joe) Marino of St. Ann; two brothers-in-law Dennis (Mary) Hovis of Piedmont and Randy (Carol) Hovis of Champaign, Illinois; nieces, nephews and many friends.

In keeping with her wishes, Gloria will be cremated.

Private Inurnment with Deacon Dennis Hovis officiating, will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.

If lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Backstoppers or Shriners Hospital for Children.
