Glenda R. Byrd, a beloved member of the Leasburg community, was born on September 19, 1952, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, to Billy R. and Ila Mae (Morgan) Terrel. Surrounded by her cherished family, she peacefully departed this life on December 14, 2024, at the age of 72.
Glenda was united in marriage to Ronald E. Byrd on September 25, 1970, in Leasburg, Missouri. Together, they welcomed two wonderful children, Michelle and Justin, who were the pride and joy of her life.
Throughout her career, Glenda dedicated herself to others, working at Eickelmann Bakery in Cuba and later at Wal-Mart in Sullivan. Her true passions lay in the simple pleasures of life—traveling, cooking, and fishing. Christmas held a special place in her heart, where she embraced the spirit of the season as Mrs. Claus at Wal-Mart, delighting countless children and families with her warmth.
Glenda's unwavering love and kindness radiated through her every action. She had a unique ability to touch the lives of those around her, and she will forever be remembered for her fierce devotion to family and friends. Glenda embodied the essence of selflessness, often expressing her love through acts of service. While she may never know the full extent of her impact, we are all grateful to have been enveloped by her love.
Glenda is survived by her two beloved children, Michelle Hatton of Leasburg and Justin Byrd, along with his wife Brandi of Bourbon; Her legacy will continue through her grandsons, Travis Hatton and Seth Byrd, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her four siblings: Richard and Terri Terrel of Sabetha, Kansas, Stella and J.B. Hamen of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, Shawn and Lucinda Terrel of Smithville, Missouri, and Shane and Julie Terrel of Alva, Oklahoma; as well as her brother-in-law Brice Donaldson of Enid, Oklahoma and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Ronald, her grandson Austin Hatton, and her sister Roberta Donaldson.
In honor of her wishes, Glenda will be cremated. A graveside service and inurnment will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri, with Pastor Todd Holman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lea Cemetery, reflecting Glenda’s generosity and love for her community.
