Glen Mitchell Briggs

Glen M. Briggs of Stanton, Missouri was born September 16, 1916 at Cook Station, Missouri to the union of Joseph Henry and Della Sarah (nee: Vaughn) Briggs left from this life on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Fenton, Missouri at the age of 93 years. Glen was united in marriage to Mary M. Leonard on November 6, 1942 and he proudly served in the United States Army from April 1945 until June of 1946. Glen retired in August of 1981 after 30 years of dedicated service as a Railroad Crossing Watchman for the Wabash Railroad which became the Norfork and Western Railroad. Glen and Mary moved to Stanton 27 years ago and became members of the First Baptist Church of Stanton were he served as a Deacon for 25 years. Glen spent his retirement years helping with the church and the members became part of his family. Glen was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Briggs, son-in-laws James Piotraschke and Roy Williams, sisters Pauline and husband Wilbur Quinley and Gladys and husband Joe Roberts, brothers Maurice and wife Ethel Briggs and Norman and wife Bertha Briggs and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his daughters Dorothy Piotraschke of St. Clair, Missouri and Mary and husband Ed Black of Stanton, Missouri, five grandchildren James Roger Piotraschke, Jr. of St. Clair, Missouri, Michael Piotraschke of St. Peters, Missouri, Lisa and husband Jacob Albers of Belleville, Illinois, Timothy Williams and fianc郃邩 Jennifer of St. Louis and Brian and wife Amanda Black of Sullivan, Missouri, one great grandchild Madison Black of Sullivan, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010 from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Stanton, 1991 Meramec St., Stanton, Missouri. Funeral service 10:30 Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Stanton, Stanton, Missouri. Interment and prayers will held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the New Hope Cemetery, Salem, Missouri with full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Stanton in Glen郢邀邙s memory. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Briggs family.
