Gilbert Lee Kean Sr.

Gilbert Lee Kean, Sr. of Leasburg, Missouri was born to the union of Lee Gilbert and Virginia (Holman) Kean on June 12, 1932 in Hinkle, Missouri. He went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family on Monday, April 2, 2018 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85 years. Gilbert was a retiree of the Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, Missouri. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of Cuba VFW Post #7147. He and Imogene opened their home and hearts to fifty-six foster children over the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying model airplanes and planting a large garden. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents Lee Gilbert and Virginia (Holman) Kean; two granddaughters Asia Dawn Bopp and Mara Justine Disbrow; one brother Walter Kean; two sisters-in-law Janeen Doty and Trevia Fisher. Those who left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of sixty-one years Odel Imogene Kean of Leasburg, Missouri; six children Gilbert Lee and wife Patti Kean, Jr. of Columbia, Missouri, Jacqueline and husband Dennis Lafferty of Fair Grove, Missouri, Tammy and husband Don Hutchison of Sullivan, Missouri, Margaret and husband Mark Disbrow of Rolla, Missouri, Lori and husband Terry Santonge of Wichita, Kansas, Don Kean of Bolivar, Missouri; two brothers-in-law Jerry and wife Donna Koepke of Dallas, Texas, Kerry and wife Felicia Koepke of Sullivan, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren Zachariah & Stacy Kean of Columbia, Missouri, Renae & Justin Weaver of Columbia, Missouri, Dennis & June Lafferty Jr. of Japan, Christopher Lafferty of Springfield, Missouri, Jacob Bopp of Las Vegas, Nevada, Nicholas Bopp of Bentonville, Arkansas, Mark & Micah Disbrow Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, Micah Disbrow of Rolla, Misssouri, McKenna Disbrow of Rolla, Missouri, Terry Santonge Jr. of Florida, Sarah & Kamil Januszek of Wichita, Kansas, Kaitlyn Santonge of El Dorado, Kansas, Isabelle Santonge of Mulvane, Kansas, Sophie Santonge of Mulvane, Kansas; eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Leasburg with Pastor Keith Neece and Pastor Tony Amato, officiating. Special music "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I'll Meet You At The River", provided by Don Harding. Interment with full military honors will follow at Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the First Baptist Church of Leasburg 378 Hwy. H Leasburg, Missouri 65535. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Kean family.
