Gerald Eaton, of Cuba, Missouri, was born on February 5, 1946, in Keysville, Missouri, to John E. and Erma B. (Happel) Eaton. He peacefully departed this life on October 16, 2024, at his home, at the age of 78.

On November 19, 1971, Gerald was united in marriage to Mary “Susie” Rutz in Steelville, Missouri. Together, they welcomed three children: Michelle, Shawn, and Matt.

Gerald dedicated many years to his work as a logger and found joy in spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. He had a particular fondness for watching "Gunsmoke" and "Homestead Rescue," enjoying scratch-off lottery tickets, and cutting firewood.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John E. Eaton and Erma (Happel); Kenneth Thurmond; siblings Johnny (Shirley) Eaton, David (Angie) Eaton, Bertha (Dean) Taber; and brothers-in-law Paul Myers, Ken Pyatt, Claude Pyatt, and Joe Stubblefield.

Gerald's love and memory will be cherished by his devoted wife Susie Eaton; his three children, Michelle (Curtis) England of Cuba, Shawn (Lucretia) Eaton of Rolla, and Matt Eaton of Cuba; and his special grandson Kyle Eaton of Cuba. He is also survived by his siblings Helen Pyatt of Sullivan, Mary Pyatt of Cuba, Maxine Myers of Cuba, Lloyd (Carol) Eaton of Cuba, Peg (Junior) Callahan of Steelville, and Glenda Stubblefield of Cuba; brother-in-law Billy Rutz of Bourbon; longtime friend and working partner Bill Brennan of Cuba; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, Gerald will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a eulogy at 6:30 PM at Recklein Auditorium, located at 202 N. Smith St. in Cuba, Missouri.
