George N. Motsegood passed away January 27, 2024, at Bickford Senior Living, Champaign. He was born October 22, 1948, at Granite City, the son of George and Dorothy (Wickham) Motsegood.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen of White Heath, Illinois and two sons and their spouses, Perry Nelson and Jennifer Lynn (Stoddard) Motsegood of Sammamish, Washington, Henry George and Karen Elizabeth (Tackitt) Motsegood of Monticello, Illinois. Six grandchildren Jack Henry Motsegood, Jake Michael Motsegood, Luke William Motsegood, Aleksander Nelson Motsegood, Natalia Lynn Motsegood, Anya Marie Motsegood.
George received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He retired from Illinois Power, Clinton Power Station, NSED, after many years of dedicated service. His hobbies included hunting, traveling, playing the guitar, gardening, and his projects around the house.
George is preceded in death by his parents George and Dorothy (Wickham) Motsegood; Grandparents Stella (Ramsey) Wickham, Belvia Wickham, Eromoly and Olympia Motsegood.
Memorial Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 17 at Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church, 208 W. University Ave, Champaign, with a reception from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Fr. Fred Robinson will officiate. Inurnment will be at Fairclough Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri at a later date.
