George Lee Miller of St. James, Missouri, formerly of Sullivan and Cuba, was born Saturday, December 20, 1924 at Bourbon, Missouri to the union of Claude and Stella (Nee: Ratliff) Miller and left from this life on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Home of St. James at the age of 92 years. George proudly served in the United States Army Air Force from 13 April 1942 till 25 October 1945 and he earned the rank of Corporal. He was a truck driver during World War II and was awarded six Bronze Stars for campaigns in Europe. After returning home from the service, George attended Agriculture School of Owensville. On June 18, 1955 George was united in marriage to Edna Mae Coffman at Bourbon, Missouri. George was a devout and active member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Sullivan for many years. He gave his heart to God and was baptized under the ministry of the late Rev. J.R. Ivie. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #81 and the Disabled American Veterans. George farmed for many years before moving to Sullivan. He then worked for Midwest Footwear in maintenance and foreman over the lasting room. After Midwest moved out, George became self-employed as a carpenter, painter and interior decorator. George was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, raising beagles and gigging. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. George was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Stella Miller, wife Edna Mae Miller, two brothers Jim and wife Judy Miller and David Miller, two sisters-in-law Arzetta Killian and Sharon Lee Coffman, brother-in-law George Killian and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving son Ron Miller of Newcastle, California, two granddaughters Michelle Miller of Rescue, California and Shannon Dean of Newcastle, California, three great grandchildren Austin Miller of Newcastle, California, Jeremy Dean of Newcastle, California and Kadence Dean and fiancé Justin Walsh of Grass Valley, California, one brother Stanley and wife Jane Miller of Cuba, sister-in-law Betty Miller of Cuba, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba. Special recorded music will be "Where We'll Never Grow Old", "I'll Fly Away" and "Amazing Grace". Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at the I.O.O. F. Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to serving George's family.
