George James Huff

George James Huff of Cuba, Missouri was born March 17, 1926 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of George J. Huff and Kathryn (nee: Broombaugh) Huff and left from this life on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Rolla, Missouri at the age of 80 years and 10 months. George retired in 1981 after 33 years of service with Monsanto in St. Louis, Missouri. George was a member of the 1st Southern Baptist Church of Leasburg and the NRA. George enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading a good murder mystery, music of all kinds, writing, the Nature channel, football and Old Westerns on the TV. He could play the trumpet, fiddle, guitar and harmonica. Through out George's life he never stopped learning; he was a TV repair man, certified pipe fitter, welder, boat builder during the war in Oregon, lawn mower repairer, photographer and farmer. He took an English comp class and others at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Missouri and in his spare time he enjoyed garage sells and antique stores. There wasn't anything George couldn't fix, repair or build. At the young age of 77 George decided to go into the Lawn Care Service and at the age of 80 started learning about the computer. George was married to Lorine Lois Hamilton on January 8, 1983 at Gerald, Missouri. George was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. George is preceded in death by his parents George J. and Kathryn Huff, two sons; Lee Roy DeWitt and Ronald Lee Franklin DeWitt, two brothers William and Edwin Huff and one sister Wanda Mathias. Those who are left mourn his passing but to celebrate a wonderful life lived is his loving wife Lorine Huff of the home, three sons; James and wife June Huff of Bland, Missouri, Roy Lee and wife Sukcha DeWitt of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Charles Angel of Madison, Illinois, two daughters; Loretta and husband Tony Ponzar of Festus, Missouri and Marlene and husband Casey McBroom of Cedar Hill, Missouri, fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation 4 to 8 PM Thursday, January 18th at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Funeral Service 1 PM Friday, January 19th with Pastor Terry King officiating at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Special music for the service provided by members of the 1st Southern Baptist Church of Leasburg. Interment Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in George's memory. Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Huff family.
