George A. Bacon, Sr. of St. James, Missouri was born May 14, 1947 at St. Charles, Missouri to the union of Marvin and Leola Bacon and left from this life on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Rolla, Missouri at the age of 59 years 5 months and 1 day. George served his country faithfully. He served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves. He entered the Army September 2, 1968 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and departed the Army Reserve on September 2, 1974 at Fort Lewis, Washington. George received a Bronze Star Medal and many other medals, accommodations and ribbons. After leaving the Army George remained very patriotic and was always very proud of the Red, White and Blue, our American Flag. After the Army George worked as a Union Carpenter in the St. Louis area for a few years. The majority of George's adult life he was a truck driver. Twenty five plus years of traveling the United States coast to coast. George was a active life member of the Cuba VFW Post #7147 and was in charge of the Gun Club for the VFW for many years. If you had the honor of knowing George for years or for just a short time you know that George always wore a hat or atleast in the pictures of him. George was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend to all. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. George is preceded in death by his brother Marvin, other relatives and friends. Those who are left to mourn his passing is his parents; Marvin and Leola Bacon of St. James, Missouri, two sons; George A. Bacon, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri and Gerald and wife Jamie Bacon of Cuba, Missouri, one daughter Kim Bacon of Cuba, Missouri, seven grandchildren; Darin, Katelynne, Michael, Christopher, Skyler, Chloee and Tristan, two nephews; Jeff and Marvin Bacon of Harvest, AL, sister in law Linda Bacon of Harvest, AL, very Special friend Debbie and all her family and many friends. Visitation Wednesday, October 18th from 5 to 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Funeral service 12 Noon Thursday, October 19th at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba. Serving as pall bears; George A. Bacon, Jr., Gerald Bacon, Phil Harms. Joe Eaton, Bill Knepper and Griffin Taylor. Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri with full military honors. A special Thank You to Debbie and her family for all their Love, Tenderness and Care of George and to the Cuba VFW for the benefit.
