George Albert Brown of Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of George W. and Blanche M.(Agan) Brown in Monett, Missouri on October 29, 1922 and left from this life on August 7, 2007 in Galesburg, Illinois at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 9 days. George was united in marriage to Sarah Bell Ray on November 18, 1945 in Purdy, Missouri and to this union four children were born Stanley, Dennis, Donald and Susan. George retired in 1983 from Burlington Northern (Frisco) Railroad after 42 years of service as the Central Agent. He was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church, Charter member and Past President of the Cuba Lions Club, Past President and Board Member of the Cuba Chamber of Commerce, Past President and Board Member of the Cuba Senior Center, Cuba Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M., American Legion Post #522, Disabled American Veterans, Crawford County R-2 School Board, Past Scoutmaster and Boy Scout committeeman. He also served on the Cuba City Council and was an Original Board Member of The Industrial Development Authority that help found the Cuba Industrial Park. He proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army during WW II. George is preceded in death by his parents George W. and Blanche M.(Agan) Brown; wife Sarah Bell (Ray) Brown; son Stanley Brown and one brother Phil Brown. Those who are left to cherish his memory and to continue his legacy are his two sons Dennis and wife Mary Brown of Knoxville, Illinois and Donald Brown of Rogers, Arkansas; one daughter Susan Brown of Olathe, Kansas; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation: Friday, August 10, 2007 5-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral: Saturday, August 11, 2007 11:00 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Lathum, officiating. Interment: Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Brown family.
