Garry M. Hix, Sr. of Leasburg, Missouri was born to the union of Jerry M. and Ruby (Wiseman) Hix on August 19, 1944 in Windsor, Missouri and left from this life on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 68. Garry was a 42 year member of Iron Workers Local #688 and was employed at Steelweld Equipment Company. He Honorably served his Country in the U.S. Navy. His life revolved around the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, he served in many different positions over 34 years with Bourbon Troop #429 and Sullivan Troop #444. Garry is preceded in death by his parents Jerry M. Hix and Ruby (Wiseman) Hix; one sister Judith Ann Hix. Those who are left to cherish his memory and to continue his legacy are his companion Patricia Bunton of Leasburg, Missouri; three children Garry M. Hix, Jr. and friend Ruth Coffman of Steelville, Missouri, Cindy and husband Ronald Deadmond of Leasburg, Missouri, Terri and husband Scott Trokey of Potosi, Missouri; four sisters Carolyn and husband Dale Lyons of Oak Grove, Missouri, Vanetta and husband Donald Slagle of North Kansas City, Missouri, Ronda and husband Tom Anson of Maryville, Illinois, Shandy and husband Kevin Vollrath of Lawrence, Kansas; one brother Wayne and wife Betty Weppner of Sullivan, Missouri; step-mother Beverly Hix of Overbrook, Kansas; like a mother Charlotte Austin of Sullivan, Missouri; twelve grandchildren. two step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2012 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Bourbon, Missouri with Pastor Tony Amato and Pastor Judy Jeffery. Interment with full military honors will follow at Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Bourbon Troop #429. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hix family.
