Frances M. "Nonna" Skyles was born on Thursday, September 23, 1920 at Knob View, Missouri to the union of Ulisse "Bill" Roso and Flora (nee: Piazza) Roso and left from this life on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 86 years 8 months and 23 days. Frances was united in marriage at Rosati, Missouri on September 18, 1937 to Robert Wm. Skyles and to this union ten children were born; Larry, Robert, Burl, Joseph, Myra, Verna Jean, Eunice, Nancy, Toni and Carrie. Frances worked for Convey Heel Company, Cuba as a "Cover Girl" the one who puts the covers on the heels, for over 20 years. The most important thing in Frances' life was spending time with her family, but in spare time she enjoyed making jelly (all kinds) and giving it away to everyone she met. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, reading, making fried bread, palenta and homemade ravioli. If you ever went for a walk with her you would remember she walked and you had to run to keep up with her. Nonna was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Frances is preceded in death by her parents Ulysee and Flora Roso, her husband Robert Wm. Skyles, three brothers; George, Ray and Ed Roso, four sisters; Mabel Navarro, Sadie Krewson, Corrine Henry and Anna Adams and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure and cherish her memory are four sons; Larry and wife Kathy Skyles and Robert Leland Skyles all of Rosati, Missouri, Burl and wife Kim Skyles of Clanton, AL and Joseph and wife Juanita of Cuba, Missouri, six daughters; Myra Hughes of St. James, Missouri, Verna Jean and husband Ron Zuidema of Morrison, Illinois, Eunice Nixon of Rolla, Missouri, Nancy and husband Earl Vincent, Toni and husband Roger Vance and Carrie and husband Jack Reiner all of Cuba, Missouri, three sisters; Dorothy Zulpo of Rosati, Missouri, Emma Licklider of Cuba, Missouri and Irene and husband Doy Jones of Jerome, Missouri, one sister-in-law Marge Roso of Collinsville, Illinois, one brother-in-law Austin Adams of St. James, Missouri, twenty three grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation Tuesday, June 19th from 5 till 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral Mass 11 AM Wednesday, June 20th at Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba with Rev. James Finder officiating. Serving as pall bears; Brian Skyles, Harley Skyles, Randy Weller, Dena Hope, Renee Branson, Zackery Nixon and Corey Skyles. Interment at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic School or the Salvation Army in Frances' memory. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Skyles family.
