Frances L. Lawson of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of the late Ollie and Anna (Shaffer) Calhoun on June 13, 1917 in Fagus, Missouri and left from this life on Thursday, May 15, 2008 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 90 years 11 months and 2 days. Frances was united in marriage to Roy A. Lawson on May 30, 1952 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Together they shared 48 years of marriage. Frances and Roy owned and operated Lawsons Cafe in St. Louis, Missouri for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, canning and raising all kinds of birds. She is preceded in death by her parents Ollie and Anna (Shaffer) Calhoun; husband Roy A. Lawson, three brothers Walter, Rufh and Roy Calhoun; two sisters Nellie Holifield and Laura Oakes; two grandsons Larry Abnet and Steven E. Johnson. Those who are left to cherish her memory and to continue her legacy are her daughter Edna L. Johnson of Cuba, Missouri; three grandchildren Pat Gilbert and her friend John Breslich of Cuba, Missouri, Marva Simon of Belleville, Illinois and Richard and wife Kathy Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; six great-grandchildren Anjanette Johnson of Chicago, Illinois, Tina Lackey of North Carolina, Dustin Abnet of Clinton, Iowa, Matt Zulpo of St. Louis, Missouri, Shad Breslich of Cuba, Missouri, Steven E. Johnson, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri; four great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Visitation: Sunday, May 18, 2008 6-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral: Monday, May 19, 2008 11:00 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home with Lesa M. Mizell, officiating. Interment: Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
