Eugene T. “Gene” Forester of Cuba, Missouri was born on Monday, June 9, 1930, in Newburg, Missouri to the union of Charley C. and Virginia I. (Birdsong) Forester. He left from this life on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at his sons’ home in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 92.
Gene was united in marriage to Helen (Gregory) Swarnes on May 14, 1966, in Steelville, Missouri.
Gene honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Butcher at The Locker Plant, Driver for Ray’s Gas Company and he retired as a Dye Fitter from Echo Supply Company. Gene enjoyed helping Helen make candy during the Christmas season, fishing, hunting, bowling, word search puzzles, scratch off lottery tickets and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents; wife Helen Forester; three sons William Swarnes, Loren Swarnes, infant Terry Swarnes; two daughters Cindy DaPron and Gail Griffin; thirteen brothers and sisters Ellen Bieber, Rose Schultz, Charley Forester, Frank Forester, Lou Davis, Homer Forester, Bert Russell, Les Forester, Dot Decker, Betty Warnhoff, Al Forester, Johnny Forester and still born Iowa Virginia Forester.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his one daughter Genia McGinnis of Ava; two sons Fred Swarnes of Cuba, Deter and wife Robin Swarnes of Rolla; one brother-in-law Elmer "Buck" Gregory of Cuba; three sisters-in-law Judy Forester of High Ridge, Shirley and husband Gene Adair of Sullivan, Martha Ray of Salem; fifteen grandchildren Paula, Danielle, Denise, Amber, Bethany, Megan, Shere’, Angie, Zachary, Cassie, Dustin, John, Jason, Joe and James; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Delashmit officiating.
Interment with full military honors will follow at Delhi Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Since Gene was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan, you are welcome and encouraged to wear your St. Louis Cardinals attire.
If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Phelps Health Hospice.
