Esther G. Hoshaw of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, October 29, 1920 at Newton County, Indiana to the union of George E. and Lula (nee: Benight) Lane and left from this life on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri at the age of 92 years and 18 days. Esther was united in marriage to Vernon Hoshaw on June 8, 1940 at Crown Point, Indiana and to this union two children were born Virgil and Ellen. Esther worked for many years as a seamstress for the men's clothing store and at the voter registration in Crown Point, Indiana. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and belonged to a league that traveled the United States playing in tournaments. She was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader as her children were growing up. After moving to Cuba, Esther was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church, played Bridge and Pinochle at the Cuba Senior Center and enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren. Esther was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Esther is preceded in death by her parents George and Lula Lane, husband Vernon Hoshaw, son Virgil Hoshaw, sister Ruth Barr and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving daughter Ellen and husband Dennis Bowman of Traverse City, Michigan, daughter-in-law Mary Ann and husband Jim Tennyson of Cuba, Missouri, five grandchildren Kevin and wife Deborah Hoshaw, Stacy Woodard, Todd and wife Jenny Hoshaw, Brian and Michael Bowman, step grandson Jamie and wife Christie Tennyson, seven great grandchildren, niece, nephew, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, November 19, 2012 from 5:00 till 7:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be 7:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba with Pastor Joseph Frana, officiating. Special music will be "Amazing Grace" and "The Unclouded Day". Graveside service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Maplewood Historical Cemetery, Crown Point, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cuba United Methodist Church in Esther's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Esther's family.
