Elmer J. Sapp of Cuba, Missouri formerly of Lamar, Colorado was born to the union of Ernest and Anna (Yonally) Sapp on October 19, 1921 at Wells, Kansas and left from this life on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 87 years 6 months and 6 days. Elmer retired from Sante Fe Railroad after 40 + years of service as a Ticket Agent. He faithfully served his Country during WWII in the U.S. Army/Air Corp. and was a member of the Lamar Christian Church of Lamar, Colorado. He enjoyed traveling and visited 49 States including Hawaii. His hobbies included playing cards, riding horses and square dancing. Elmer is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Anna (Yonally) Sapp; first wife Elfreda (Marshall) Sapp; second wife Wilma H. (Lundgren) Sumners-Sapp; one sister Edna Thomeczek. Survivors include two daughters Patricia and husband David Doyle of Steelville, Missouri, Carole Sapp and partner Linda Hostetter of Independence, Missouri; one sister Betty and husband Joe Buckhaults of La Junta, Colorado; two granddaughters Janet and husband Murray Hempe of Edgewater, Florida, Wanda and husband Thomas Conley of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; four great-grandchildren Elaina and Matt Hempe, Elizabeth and Thomas II Conley; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorial Service Wednesday, May 6, 2009 10:00 a.m. at the Lamar Christian Church 811 S. Main St. Lamar, Colorado with Pastor Ian Blacker, officiating.
