Effie Neff of Cuba, Missouri was born January 20, 1923 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Jesse and Bessie (Nee: Harris) Wilkinson and left from this life on Saturday, October 8, 2011, surrounded by her family, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 88 years 8 months and 19 days. Effie was united in marriage to Ocie Allen Neff on January 28, 1940 at the Davisville Assembly of God Church and to this union seven children were born; Lucy, Ocie L., Gloria, Wanda, Ronnie, Keith and Sheila. Effie spent her life taking care of her family. She was known for her wonderful cooking and baking especially her yeast rolls, German Chocolate Cake, chicken and dumplings, Pecan Pie and Carrot Cake just to name a few. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, canning, playing Skip-Bo and attended the Calvary Apostolic Church in St. James for twenty plus years. Even when her health was failing she never lost her sense of humor. Effie was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend. She will be always remembered and truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Effie is preceded death by her parents Jesse and Bessie Wilkinson, husband Ocie Neff, one son Ocie L. Neff, two brothers Chester and Fred Wilkinson, one sister Leora Collier, one son-in-law Willard Worley and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children; Lucy and husband John Bates of Cuba, Gloria Worley of Cuba, Wanda Hardin of Sullivan, Ronnie and wife Debbie Neff of St. Louis, Keith and wife Brenda Neff of Cuba and Sheila Neff of Cuba, one sister Nina Skaggs of High Ridge, Missouri, daughter-in-law Carol Neff of St. Louis, twenty grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Monday, October 10, 2011 from 5 till 8 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W. Washington, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Don Lowery and Pastor Don Mitchell officiating. Special music will be by Sheila Neff and Bob Coleman. Honored to serve as pall bears will be Greg, Rodney, Doug and Ronnie Neff, Gary and John Bates. Interment and prayers will follow at the Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Martin Cemetery in Effie's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to the Neff family.
