Edward Joseph Young, Jr. of High Hill, Missouri was born to the union of Edward J. Young, Sr. and Edith (Johnson) Young on October 30, 1926 in Evanston, Illinois. He left from this life on Monday, May 8, 2017 at New Florence Care Center in New Florence, Missouri at the age of 90 years. Ed was united in marriage to Katherine Longstreet on April 21, 1951 in Webster Groves, Missouri. Ed earned a bachelor's degree from Iowa State University and honorably served his country in the United States Army-Air Corps during World War II. He retired in 1984 as a Commodities Counselor from Clayton Brokerage after 31 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. John's U.C.C. in High Hill and volunteered as a bible study leader at the Jonesburg Nursing Home and New Florence Care Center. Ed enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, reading, a fine glass of scotch and spending time with family and friends. Ed is preceded in death by his parents Edward J. Young, Sr. and Edith (Johnson) Young. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of sixty-six years Katherine Young of High Hill, Missouri; four sons Ron and wife Delaine Young of Jonesburg, Missouri, Craig and wife Kathryn Young of Huntsville, Alabama, Neal and wife Francina Young of Akron, Ohio, John Young of St. Charles, Missouri; ten grandchildren Zach and wife Jill Young of Chesterfield, Missouri, Luke and wife Lisa Young of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Josh and wife Lisa Young of Webster Groves, Missouri, Sarah Young and husband Dan Gray of St. Louis, Missouri, Hannah and husband Sean Wilson of Homer, Louisiana, Anealia and husband Brandon Hecker of Camdenton, Missouri, Jonathan Young of Stoutland, Missouri, Nathanial Young of the United States Navy, Amanda and Jaime Mizell both of Jonesburg, Missouri; twelve great-grandchildren Jayce, Ellen Mae, Zoe, Sawyer, Leah, Harper, Atticus, Madelyn, Mason, Hope, Matthew and Daniel; one brother-in-law Bill Longstreet of Kirkwood, Missouri; one sister-in-law Jean Longstreet of High Hill, Missouri; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at St. John's U.C.C. 202 Spruce St. High Hill, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 11:00 a.m. at St. John's U.C.C. with Pastor Don Deeker and Pastor Tom Higgins, officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, High Hill, Missouri. Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Dan Ridgeley, Zach Young, Luke Young, Josh Young, Sara Young and Amanda Mizell. Honorary pallbearers will be Hannah Wilson, Jaime Mizell and Jerry Kozak. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association, St. John's U.C.C. or Kindred Hospice. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Young family.
