Edgar Ellis 'Ed' Watson

Edgar Ellis "Ed" Watson of Cuba, Missouri was born Thursday, August 8, 1929 at Clinton, Missouri to the union of John T. and Goldie (Nee: Windes) Watson and went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at his home in Cuba at the age of 87 years. Ed proudly served in the United States Navy and while on leave he returned home and married his high school sweetheart Patricia J. Askins. They then became the proud parents of Lynda, John, Nancy and Lee. Ed started with the Terminal Railroad in 1950. From 1962 till 1979 he was a General Chairman for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. In 1979 he was elected an International V.P. of the B.L.E. He retired from that office in June 1993. They moved to Indian Hills Lake in the mid 1980's. Ed would spend many hours in the spring and summer gardening and boating. In the fall he would start hanging tiny white lights on the house, dock, slide, pavilion and every tree and bush. Ed's work of art could be seen from Highway DD. He was known as a practical joker, enjoyed a spirited argument and treasured the times he got to entertain his family and friends. Ed loved having fun. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, brother-in-law and friend of everyone. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ed is preceded in death by his infant daughter Nancy Sue, parents John T. and Goldie Watson, sister Marilyn "Sue" and husband Jim McCune, two sisters-in-law; Donna Avery and Barbara and husband John Copeland and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of sixty seven years Patricia J. "Pat" Watson of the home, one daughter Lynda and husband Jon Henderson of Ballwin, Missouri, two sons John and wife Virginia Watson of Steelville and Lee and wife Theresa Watson of Cuba, four grandchildren Lauren and husband Drew Biondo of Kirkwood, Missouri, Kelsey Henderson of St. Louis, Missouri, Kathryn "Katy" Watson of Cuba and Amber and husband Errin Henry of St. Ann, Missouri, two great grandchildren Collin and Hunter Henry of St. Ann, Missouri, one sister Dorothy and husband Bob Schmidt of Salem, Oregon, brother-in-law Richard Avery of Ocala, Florida, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba. Memorial service will be 7:00 pm Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Jeff Snell officiating and Lauren Biondo giving the eulogy. In keeping with Ed's wishes he was cremated. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Watson family.
