Edath Marie Brand Ackfeld of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of James W. and Anne Lee (Grooms) Gilliam on May 16, 1918 in Huzzah, Missouri and left from this life on Friday, July 9, 2010 at her home at the age of 92. Edath worked many years for the Cuba Shoe Factory and Convay Heel Company. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of the Lunch Bunch. She enjoyed flowers, quilting, embroidery work, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Edath is preceded in death by her parents James W. and Anne L. (Grooms) Gilliam; two husbands Everett Brand and Joseph Ackfeld; one son Everett é¢ééRoné¢éé Brand; one daughter Janet Wilhite; two grandchildren Thomas and Jeania Brand; three sisters Anita Blair, Rebel Gilliam and Betty Jo Cameron; three brothers Albert Henry Gilliam, Audrey G. Gilliam and James A. Gilliam, Sr. and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to cherish her memory and to continue her legacy are her two sons James and wife Mary Ann Brand of Cuba, Missouri and Richard and wife Judy Brand of Springfield, Missouri; one brother Ralph Gilliam of Bellview, Washington; two sisters Madeline Henry of Rolla, Missouri and Helen Tiberghien of Imperial, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 4-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father James Finder as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
