Ed Mitchell of Cuba, Missouri was born on February 24, 1940 at Cuba, Missouri to the union of John Levi Mitchell and Delilah Henrietta (nee: Shelley) Mitchell and left from this life on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the age of 67 years and 8 months. Ed was united in marriage to Joan Pinnell on April 28, 1962 at Trinity Chapel in Cuba, Missouri and to this union three children were born; Scott, Steve and Shellee. Ed was well known throughout the area for being a horse shoer of which he had been since the fall of 1968 after attending school in Perry, Oklahoma. Ed was in his second term as Crawford County Commissioner District 2. Ed had been a member of Trinity Chapel for many years and had just become members of Amazing Grace. Ed's favorite hobbies were horses and spending time with his family. Ed was a loving son, husband, father, father in law, grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Ed is preceded in death by his parents; John Levi Mitchell and Delilah Henrietta Mitchell and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to mourn his passing but to celebrate a life lived is his loving wife of 45 years Joan Mitchell of the home, two sons; Scott and wife Sandy and Steve and wife Amy Mitchell and one daughter Shellee and husband Shawn Mitchell-Gann all of Cuba, Missouri, four beautiful granddaughters; Samantha Jo, Shayla Marie, Hannah Lynn and Molly Lee Mitchell, one sister Lila Lee and husband Kenneth Walker of Pacific, Missouri and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, October 26th from 4-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27th at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with Rev. Gary Mace, officiating. Special music will be by Sandy Mitchell and Darlene Cape. Burial will be at Licklider Cemetery, Cuba with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ed Mitchell Family, which in turn will be shared with many different area organizations. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Mitchell family.
