Doris V. Staats of Cuba, Missouri was born August 4, 1923 at Bourbon, Missouri to the union of Ira Augustus Morton and Mildred Mae (nee: Adams) Morton and left from this life on December 21, 2007 at the age of 84 years 4 months and 17 days. Doris was united in marriage to Perry Wilson Staats. Doris graduated from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy on July 1, 1958. After graduation Doris and Perry owned and operated the Rexall Drug Incorporation located at Cuba, Bourbon and Sullivan for 20 plus years. During the early years of being pharmacist they did home deliveries. Doris was an avid animal lover, especially her cat "Tommy" and her dog "Buddy". She enjoyed living at Indian Hills and being on the lake, for there they enjoyed boating and water skiing. In her spare time Doris enjoyed reading, watching TV Land, eating out especially on Sunday mornings. Doris was a loving daughter, wife, sister, sister in law, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Doris is preceded in death by her parents Ira and Mildred Morton, her loving husband Perry Wilson Staats, one sister Iris Shea and a host of other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to celebrate a life lived are her three nephews; Dan Shea, David and wife Sabrina Shea all of Phenix City, Al and Don and wife Mary Shea of Winchester, California, one niece Mary Gaither of Warrenton, Missouri, seven great nieces and nephews; Erika, Colton, Brenna, Brandon, Bradley, Amber and Daniel, one cousin Cleo H. Alexander, Special friends; Mike and Lorene Ransom, Rita May, Dr. Gordon Riffel, Shirley Hoyer, Dr. Charles "Doc" and Mary Leezy and Aleta DuBose and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday, December 27th from 5 till 8 PM at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral Service 10 AM Friday, December 28th at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Burial at Beatty Cemetery, Arab, Missouri at 3 PM Friday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shelter Pals or Missouri State Autism Society in Doris memory. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Staats family.
