Donald E. Vaughn of Cuba was born to the union of Jesse Matthew and Marie (Simpson) Vaughn on August 10, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri and left from this life on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 88. Donald was a retired Truck Driver having driven for several companies over the years. He Honorably served his Country in the U.S. Army during WWII, having received 5 Bronze Stars. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #456 and the Leasburg and Cuba Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed tools and was a handy mechanic for family and friends. Donald is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Matthew and Marie (Simpson) Vaughn; two sisters Gerri Facsett and Imogene Gottel. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his wife Nancy Vaughn of Cuba, Missouri; three children Stephen and wife Jackie Vaughn of Viburnum, Missouri, Guy and wife Teresa Vaughn of Sullivan, Missouri, Frank Kerner of Auburn, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Knight, officiating. Interment with full military honors will be follow at Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to Shriners Hospital for Children. The Mizell Funeral Home is Honored to be serving the Vaughn family.
