Dessie May Bowenschulte (nee: Lewis) of Cuba, was born March 18, 1920 at Sun Flower, Mississippi to the union of Gilbert Lewis and Levie (nee: Kellum) Lewis and left from this life on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Bourbon, Missouri at the age of 86 years 1 month and 4 days. Dessie was united in marriage to Hubert A. Whitman. He passed away July 5, 1982. Dessie was married to Frank Bowenschulte and he too precedes her in death. Dessie was the loving mother of Art, Danny, Ellis, Barb, Dora Carol, Lonnie and Karen. Dessie worked as a cook for many years, retiring from Voss "Skelly's" in 1982. Dessie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister in law, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those who proceed her in death are her parents Gilbert and Levie Lewis, two sons Art and Lonnie Whitman, one daughter Dora Carol, 3 sisters, Mamie, Lottie and Inais, 3 brothers Dan, Gill and Belmer. Those who are left to mourn her passing are her two sons Danny Whitman of Steelville, Ellis and wife Eleanor Whitman of Springfield, Missouri, two daughters Barbara Roach of Bourbon and Karen A. and husband Pierre Boumann of Miami, Florida, 28 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 36 great great grandchildren, one brother Coy H. and wife Mildred of Vaiden, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation Thursday, April 27th from 4-8 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home 904 West Washington St. Cuba, MO Funeral Friday, April 28, 2006 11:00 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Rauls officiating. Grandchildren served as pall bears. Interment: Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. All arrangements are under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
