Denver E. Britton

Denver E. Britton of Rolla, Missouri was born Tuesday, July 12, 1949 at Owensville, Missouri to the union of Earnest Alonzo and Georgia Helen (Nee: Beaman) Britton. He went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at his home in Rolla at the age of 69 years.

Denver proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 08 January 1969 till 31 January 1971, earning the rank of Sergeant. Denver earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1*, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/Device, Good Conduct Medal, RVN Meritorious Unit Citation, Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart Medal W/1*. Denver was injured twice will serving during Vietnam.

Denver was united in marriage to Barbara "Barb" Bogue on December 23, 1978 at St. James. They were the proud parents of Denver "Denny" Jr. and Samantha.

Denver retired February 2009 after being the owner/operator of Britton Trucking. Millions of miles later he decided to stay home and go fishing. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, traveling, tinkering on cars and his dogs and cats.

He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church, St. James for the last fifteen years. Denver loved God, church and spoiling his family. He was a very generous man. He treasured the time he got to spend with family and friends.

He was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, dad, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Denver is preceded in death by his parents Earnest Alonzo and Georgia Helen Britton, three sisters; infant Sherry Britton, Linda Britton, Judy and husband Johnny McGuire, brother-in-law Jack Hardin, mother-in-law Millie Bogue and other family and friends.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of forty years Barb Britton of the home, two children; Denver "Denny" Britton, Jr. of St. Louis and Samantha S. Britton of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, six brothers; Dallas and wife Sharon Britton of Cuba, Ray Britton of Cuba, Doug Britton of Cuba, Terry Britton of Cuba, Larry Britton of Cuba and Garnet Britton of Licking, four sisters; Carol Sue and husband Leroy Crider of Cuba, Peggy Hardin of Meta, Missouri, Nancy Baez of Eldon, Missouri and Karen King of Cuba, father-in-law Rich Bogue of Cuba, aunt Edwina Britton of Cuba, brother-in-law David and wife Sherry Bogue of Greenbrier, Arkansas, sister-in-law Cathy and husband Charles Schroyer of Cuba, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Kemp officiating. Special music will be "Amazing Grace".

Interment, prayers and full military honors will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba.

Honored to serve as casket bearers are David Bogue, Charles Schroyer, Ethan Schroyer, D.J. Britton, Gary Britton and Jared King.
