Deborah Sue Umfleet of Cuba, Missouri was born November 29, 1962 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Tommy and Evelyn (nee: Butts) Smith and left from this life Sunday, September 2, 2007 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 44 years 9 months and 3 days. Debbie was united in marriage to John Umfleet on October 1, 1989 at St. Charles, Missouri and to this union one daughter was born April Elizabeth Umfleet. Debbie was always very young at heart, happy when someone gave her something (regardless of what the gift was), loved to "Doll" up even if she wasn't going out and truly wasn't scared of anything. She was loved by her family and her extended family at Cuba Manor during her battle with Huntington's Disease, which she had for over 10 years, but Debbie never was scared or gave up. Debbie was a loving daughter, step daughter, wife, mother, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents; Tommy Smith and Evelyn Smith Thomure, one brother Michael Smith and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure her memory and to cherish a life lived is her husband; John Umfleet, one daughter April Umfleet, step father John G. Thomure of Farmington, MO, grandmother Lorraine Butts of Cuba, MO, one aunt Ellen and husband Rich Fahr of O'Fallon, MO, one uncle Richard Butts of Salem, MO and a host of other relatives, extended family and friends. Graveside service 1 PM Tuesday, September 4th at Sligo Cemetery, Sligo, MO with Brother Allen Teal officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue Suite 902, New York, NY 10018. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Umfleet family.
