David Lawrence Voss of Cuba, Missouri was born Monday, November 10, 1947 at Jefferson City, Missouri to the union of Elmer and Rita (nee: Koenig) Voss and left from this life Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 61 years 2 months and 10 days. Dave proudly served in the United States Army from the 17th of August 1967 until the 4th of August 1969. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star, VSM, RVNCM, ARCOM, and the Sharpshooter (Rifle) Medal. David was united in marriage to Katherine A. Bartel at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Owensville on September 26, 1970 and to this union two children were born Brad and Wendy. Dave has owned and operated Voss Truck Port in Cuba since November of 1971. February of 2005 he purchased the Cuba Lakes Country Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8920 and the Cuba VFW Post 7147. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, the Dot game and the Wolf game, but what enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. Dave was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Dave is preceded in death by his father Elmer Voss, infant sister Ruth Ann Voss and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife Kay Voss of Cuba, his mother Rita Voss of Owensville, son Brad and Renee Voss of Cuba, daughter Wendy and husband Ed Randell of Cuba, seven grandchildren Jesse, Tyler, Ethan, Katherine, Tome, Nate and Eva, one sister Gloria and husband William Jackson of Herst, Texas, two brothers Joseph and wife Rhoda Voss of Owensville and Clements and wife Stefanie Voss of Pacific and nieces, nephews, cousins, uncle, other relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday, January 22nd from 4 till 8 pm at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral mass 10 am Friday, January 23rd at Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba with Father James Finder as celebrant. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic School in Daveé¢éés memory. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Voss family.
