His vision then would not allow him to drive again forcing him into early retirement. David and Karleen the moved to Cuba, Missouri where they quickly made more friends. After the death of his wife, David moved to Arizona where he resided with his brother during the winter. He learned to love the desert and the heat. It never seemed to be too hot for him. Summers were spent with his sister Viola in Illinois and Kathy in Wisconsin where he loved their Northwoods cottage on the lake. David was a devoted fan of the Cubs and Bears, but did root for the Packers when they would play each other. He also loved to argue and tease his friends in Cuba about the Rams and Cardinals.
