Daniel "Danny" P. Skaggs of Bourbon, Missouri was born Monday, March 19, 1956 at Hillsboro, Missouri. He left from this life, suddenly, on Thursday, September 12, 2019 in Bourbon, Missouri at the age of 63 years.
Danny was the owner and operator of D & S Siding Pro for nearly twenty years before retiring a few years ago. He had served as an alderman for the city of Bourbon and since 2014 Danny has been the Mayor of Bourbon. A title that he took very seriously.
Danny was an avid collector of Dale Earnhardt memorabilia and he was an avid fan of NASCAR. He knew all the driver's names and their sponsors. He was a fan of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, North Carolina Basketball and Mizzou Football. In his younger years, Danny loved to play basketball.
He enjoyed many Novembers at deer camp and sometimes he would go deer hunting. His fish tank, with lots of fish, is where he was most evenings. What he truly treasured most in life was spending time with his friends, family and eating good chocolate.
Dany was a loving son, husband, stepfather, grandfather, step grandfather, like a brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of everyone. Danny never met a stranger and he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Edith Skaggs, brother-in-law Curtis Luna, sister-in-law Wilma Sellers and other family and friends.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Sheree Skaggs of the home; two step children, Meghenn and husband Jason Portell of Louisville, Kentucky and Mitchell Bax of O'Fallon, Missouri; one grandson Ashton Portell; two step grandchildren, Lily Portell and Luke Portell; special sisters, Tracie Ware of Bourbon, Missouri and Stacie and husband Joe Garcia of Angleton, Texas; brothers-in-law, Wayne and wife Cheri Luna of Rosati, Missouri, Alan and wife Marlin Luna of Independence, Missouri, Kevin and wife Lori Luna of Wentzville, Missouri and Dewayne Sellers of Steelville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Mizell Funeral Home, Cuba. Special recorded music will be "Wind Beneath My Wings", "Sweet Home Alabama" and "The Dance".
Interment and prayers will follow at the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon.
Honored to serve as casket bearers are Tracy Dace, David Bouckaert, Kevin Hedges, Keith Phelps, Blaine Phelps, Billy Bouckaert, John Breen and Lyle Nilges.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.
