Dan Louis Merchoff of Cuba, Missouri formerly of Granite City, Illinois was born to the union of Jim Y. and Rose Marie (Maykopet) Merchoff on February 17, 1949 in Granite City, Illinois and left from this life on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Cuba Manor at the age of 66. Dan served his Country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting a game of pool, being an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan. Dan is preceded in death by his father Jim Y. Merchoff. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his mother Rose Marie Merchoff of Granite City, Illinois; two brothers David and wife Gretchen Merchoff of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Dennis and wife Shelly Merchoff of Easley, South Carolina; one sister Dorothy Rampa of Toluca, Illinois; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and his extended family and dear friends at Cuba Manor. Graveside service with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with Pastor Larry Ridenour, officiating. The Mizell Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Merchoff family.
