Dale W. Summers

Dale Winston Summers of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of William Rubin and Mary Elizabeth (Dace) Summers on October 28, 1926 in Shirley, Missouri and left from this life on Friday, July 18, 2008 at his home at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 21 days. Dale was united marriage to Edna M. Powell on June 11, 1954 in Potosi, Missouri together they shared 47 years of marriage. Dale and Edna owned and operated Summers Market in Cuba for many years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of V.F.W. Post #7147. He enjoyed farming on his farm and for years his silo could be seen from interstate 44. In his spare time he enjoyed rabbit hunting. Dale is preceded in death by his parents William Rubin and Mary Elizabeth (Dace) Summers; wife Edna M. (Powell) Summers; one son William D. Summers; sister-in-law Patricia Summers and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to celebrate his life and to continue his legacy is his three sons Mike and wife Pam Summers of Cuba, Missouri, Don and wife Tiny Summers of Nixa, Missouri, Jerry and wife Connie Summers of Villa Ridge, Missouri; one daughter Barbara A. Short of Cuba, Missouri; one brother Marvin Summers of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren Ryan Summers of Sparta, Missouri, Jeff Summers of Sullivan, Missouri, Angel Stipp and Scott Summers both of Nixa, Missouri, Katrina Bantel of Cuba, Missouri, Brandon, Michael and Elizabeth Summers of Villa Ridge, Missouri, Chris and Jeremy Summers of Cuba, Missouri; eleven great-grandchildren, one nephew Greg Summers of Indiana and other relatives and friends. Visitation: Sunday, July 20, 2008 5-8 p.m. with a V.F.W. service 7:00 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral: Monday, July 20, 2008 11:00 a.m. at Britton Funeral home with Pastor Don Martin, officiating. Interment: Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with full military honors.
