Curtis Dale Simmerly of Bourbon, Missouri was born December 30, 1935 to the union of Jesse Walter and Della Edith (nee: Wymer) Simmerly and left from this life on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Rolla, Missouri at the age of 72 years 1 month and 4 days. Curtis was a timber worker, farmer and just plan "Uncle Curtis". He attended school at the Old Coon Ridge School located 6 miles out on Hwy N and was born on the old Lakem Place near Bourbon. Curtis served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. Curtis was a devoted son, brother, brother in law, uncle, great uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Curtis is preceded in death by his parents; Jesse Walter Simmerly in 1996 and Della Edith Simmerly in 1988. Those who are left to mourn his passing but to celebrate a life lived is his four brothers Junior and wife Eveline Simmerly of Bourbon, Robert & Richard Simmerly of Sullivan and James Simmerly of St. James, Missouri, four nephews; Earl, Mike, James Jr. and William "Bill" Simmerly and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation: Wednesday, February 6, 2008 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Funeral: Wednesday, February 6, 2008 11:00 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with Reid Stephens, officiating. Interment: Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri with Full Military Honors.
