James E. Summers III of Killeen, Texas, former resident of Cuba, Missouri was born April 5, 1986 at Washington, Missouri to the union of James E. Summer, Jr. and Lucy (nee: Kramer) Summers and left from this life on Monday, May 28, 2007 (Memorial Day) at Abu Sayda Iraq at the age of 21 years 1 month and 23 days. Jimmy was united in marriage at Cuba, Missouri on June 18, 2005 to Elizabeth "Beth" Bridgeman. James joined the United States Army in February 2005. He was proud to be a soldier and he was proud of the job that the troops are doing over there, especially improving the lives of the children. That was very dear to his heart. He was a man of honor, respect and integrity, someone we can all be proud of. Jimmy was a loving husband, son, brother, grandson, step son, step brother, nephew, cousin, son in law, brother in law and friend to everyone he met. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father James E Summer, Jr. and many other relatives and friends. Those who are left to cherish and treasure his memories are his loving wife Beth Summers of the home, his mother Lucy Summers of Kentucky, two brothers; Sgt. Michael Summers (stationed in Iraq) and Thomas Summers of Union, Missouri, grandmother Mary Summers, step mother Lynn Summers of Bourbon, Missouri, two step sisters; Rachael Berry and Melissa Norris, one step brother Ben Berry, a very special cousin Ryan Pilkenton, mother in law and father in law Kara and Kevin Bridgeman, brother in law Rick Bridgeman and a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many many friends. Visitation Monday, June 11th from 2 till 8 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, (old Rt 66) Cuba. Funeral service 11 AM Tuesday, June 12th at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Cuba with Pastor Tony Amato officiating. Interment at the Bourbon Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Army. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Summers family.
