Claude Carlyle Coffey, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, October 8, 1948 at Richmond, Virginia to the union of Claude C. Coffey, Sr. and Louise (nee: Dease) Coffey and left from this life on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his home in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 68 years. Claude proudly retired from the United States Army after twenty years of dedicated service. Claude left from the service to attend medical school, but before he could finish, he went back to the Army and he was sent to Vietnam as a medic. Claude was a devout and faithful member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. He volunteered at the Cuba Food Pantry and he helped drive individuals to the doctor, grocery store, church and many other places, when they had no transportation. Claude made a trip twice a year to Tennessee to visit his sister Geneva. For the last several years he had become an avid reader and he enjoyed exchanging books with his sister. Claude was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend of many. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his father Claude C. Coffey, Sr., mother Louise Coffey, aunts, uncles and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving sister Geneva and husband Ken Conner of Johnson City, Tennessee, one niece Heather and husband David Klein of Rutland, Vermont, one aunt and uncle Norma and husband Gardner of Biloxi, Mississippi, cousins, church family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Cuba United Methodist Church, date and time pending. Private interment was held at the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving Claude's family.
