Charles W. Smith of St. Louis, Missouri formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Charles A. and Alice (Wallace) Smith on March 4, 1916 in Crocker, Missouri and left from this life on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Delmar Gardens South County in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 94. Charles was a retiree of Wagner Electric Company in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of Lebanon Lodge #77 A.F. & A.M. and a 33 degree member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed working in the garden, square dancing and spending the winter months in Texas. Charles is preceded death by his parents Charles A. and Alice (Wallace) Smith; wife Bertha L. (Short) Smith; sister-in-law Eula Martin and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory are his three sister-in-laws Maxine Sellers of St. Louis, Missouri, Louise McLeod of Liberty, Missouri, Sara Hargis of Camden Point, Missouri; seven nephews and two nieces Gary Sellers of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Larry Sellers of St. Louis, Missouri, David Hargis of Camden Point, Missouri, Sonia Overton of Dearborn, Missouri, Dennis McLeod of Liberty, Missouri and Michael McLeod of Houston, Texas, Janet Moore of Defiance, Missouri, Jim Martin of Florida and Donald Martin of Arizona; great-nieces and great-nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 1:00 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Paul Lathum, officiating. Interment will follow at Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. If desired memorials would be appreciated to Golden Echoes Center 401 N. Spring St. Steelville, Missouri 65565. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Smith family.
