Charles R. Edelen of Cuba, Missouri was born March 15, 1941 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Charles W. and Rose (nee: Frederking) Edelen and left from this life on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 69 years 9 months and 11 days. Charles was united in marriage to Pat Sweeney and to this union two sons were born Ron and Jeff. On April 11, 1987 Charles was united in marriage to Catherine (nee: Desemone) Cool. Charles or Charlie as he was known retired in 1998 from Laclede Gas Company after 31 years of dedicated service. In January of 1999 Charlie and Cathy moved to Indian Hills, were Charlie enjoyed boating, fishing, a few rounds of golf with his sons and reading whenever he got the chance. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 8920. Charles was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, son-in-la, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin,and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Rose Edelen, first wife Pat Edelen and other family and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife Cathy Edelen of the home, four children Ron and wife Mary Edelen of Wentzville, Missouri, Jeff and wife Claudia Edelen of Toronto, Canada, Christine Cool and friend Kyle St. Peter of Clayton, Missouri and Bill Cool of California, ten grandchildren Bryan Hope, Ray Ready, Jennifer Edelen, SPC Kyle Miller, Kelly Miller, Amanda Edelen, Taylor Edelen, Candice Miller, Carly Miller and Connor Edelen, two great grandchildren Tatum and Gene, two sisters Barbara Halter and friend Al Pedrotti of Maryland Heights, Missouri and Pat and husband Frank Mullen of Doniphan, Missouri, mother-in-law Mary Desemone of St. Louis, sister-in-law Carol and husband Ted Kuhlengel of St. Louis and Maryann Noce of Webster Groves, Missouri, brother-in-law Mel Desemone and friend Marti of St. Louis, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 4 till 9 p.m. at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba. Celebration of mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Cuba with Father James Finder as celebrant. Honored to be serving as pall bearers will be Charlie's grandchidren; Bryan, Jennifer, SPC Kyle, Kelly, Amanda, Taylor, Candice and Carly. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 8920, Holy Cross Catholic School or Charity of Choice in Charlieé¢éés memory.
