Charles H. “Charlie” Vaughn of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday, May 13, 1931 in Cuba, Missouri to the union of Henry B. and Myrtle Pearl (Roberts) Vaughn. He left from this life at his home, with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the age of 90 years, 4 months, 2 days.
Charlie honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Echo Supply after thirty-six years of dedicated service. He would also spend thirty-three years working for Peoples Bank, making sure that all of their locations were well landscaped. Charlie had his own Green House, where he grew all of his beautiful flowers.
Charlie was a longtime devoted member of the Cuba Free Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Usher. He spent many hours studying his Bible in his green house office, surrounded by his lovely plants.
In his younger days he played basketball and later tennis, entering and winning numerous tournament trophies. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing woodworking projects. He was especially talented at making authentic, old-time, exotic-wood automobiles.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents Henry B. and Myrtle Pearl (Roberts) Vaughn; seven brothers Wilbur, Earl, Floyd, Lloyd, Elmer, Noel and Everett Vaughn; and one sister Mae Vaughn.
Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife Helen (Reeves) Vaughn of Cuba; step-children Jim and wife Janice Reeves of Marshfield, Alan and wife Susan Pinnell of Charleston, South Carolina, David and wife Brenda Pinnell of Cuba; seven step-grandchildren Bobby and wife Cammie Pinnell, Jessica and husband DeAndre Kirtz, Rachel and husband Cameron Schweitzer, Brandon and wife Tricia Woods, Brittany and husband Michael O’Shaugnessy, Alexander Pinnell, Dominic and wife Kristin Pinnell; five step-great-grandchildren Gideon, Evie, Onora, Mickey and Scarlett; one sister-in-law Norma Bridgeman of Cuba; two brothers-in-law Johnny and wife Tiny Reeves, and Clarence and wife Mary Reeves both of Cuba; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and many, many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 10:00 a.m. at Cuba Free Will Baptist Church 707 Myrtle St. with Pastor Don Martin and Pastor Don Vaughn, officiating.
Interment with full military honors will follow at Roberts Cemetery in Cook Station, Missouri.
If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the Cuba Free Will Baptist Church.
