Charles Eldon "Duke" Snowden of St. James, Missouri formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, October 23, 1928 at Marceline, Missouri to the union of Luther Allen Snowden and Dovie Lee (nee: Spencer) Snowden and left from this life on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Missouri Veterans Home, St. James, Missouri at the age of 80 years and 9 days. Duke proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from November 1948 untill August 1952. Duke worked as an Air traffic Control in Chicago, Illinois for many years. In his younger years he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a brakeman. Duke was a son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Duke is preceded in death by his parents Luther and Dovie Snowden, two brothers Laverne and Harold Snowden and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his two sisters Juanita and husband Dr. George Ewing of Honolulu, Hawaii and Nina Snowden of Cuba, Missouri, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 with full military honors. The Britton Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Snowden family.
