Carolyn M. Houseman of Cuba, Missouri was born Tuesday, October 26, 1948 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Raymond and Ernestine (Nee: Allison) Buettner. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her home in Cuba at the age of 71 years.
Carolyn was united in marriage to Barrett M. "Barry" Houseman on April 7, 1979 in Steelville, Missouri. They treasured every day of the thirty-seven years they were married before Barry passed away in April 15, 2017.
Carolyn spent her life believing in God. She was a devout member of Faith Chapel thirty plus years. She loved being outdoors, working in her flower gardens and working in her vegetable garden. While living in Bourbon, on a small farm, she raised dogs.
Her favorite TV shows were Animal Plant, Northwoods Law and COPS. She was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers. In her younger years, she loved riding horses.
Carolyn and Barry spent many hours going for a drive, looking for wildflowers and dogwood trees. But what she treasured most in this world; was her family.
Carolyn was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Ernestine Buettner; husband Barry Houseman; two brothers Pastor Larry Buettner and David Buettner; one grandson Warren Broadaway; brother-in-law Jim Spurgeon and other family and friends.
Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her loving children Allison and husband Jason Fuller of Cuba, Brian and wife Rhonda Bennett of Cook Station, Kelli and husband Chris West of Leasburg and Matthew Bennett of Cuba; grandchildren Amrah Broadaway, Darrah Broadaway, Kyle Broadaway, Tiffany Broadaway, Devin Payne, Brandon Coleman, Jessica Bennett, Courtney Bennett, Rachel Bennett, Noah Bennett, Hailey Bennett, Jade Hackett, Joshua Fuller; fifteen great grandchildren and three more on the way; sisters-in-law Mary Buettner of Cuba, Burdett Lee of Union, Betty Spurgeon of Owensville, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington Street, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Darla Buettner officiating. Special recorded music will be "The Old Rugged Cross", "You Raise Me Up" and "Wings of a Dove".
Interment and prayers will follow at the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Chapel, 63 McLeod, Cuba in Carolyn's memory.
