Calvin Mason Ivie formerly of Bourbon, Missouri was born July 4, 1930 to the union of Jesse and Rena (Nee: Fowler) Ivie at Steelville, Missouri and left from this life on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Rolla, Missouri at the age of 81 years. Calvin's passion in life was writing, recording and playing music. He played music at the Sullivan Bowling Alley for years and everywhere else he ever lived or traveled through. He owned a music store in Sullivan and later in Phoenix, Arizona. The last several years he was a tour guide "Coyote Cal" in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. He was the inventor of the "Papi System" which is used in photography. During his younger years he enjoyed playing golf. Calvin was a loving son, brother, brother-in-law, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Calvin is preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Rena Ivie, one daughter Tammy Ivie, second wife Judy Ivie, three brothers AB, JR and Marvin Ivie, one sister Hazel Hutson and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his four children Mike and Karen Ivie of Cuba, Terry and Shawn Ivie of Halfway, Missouri, Ken and Jackie Ivie of Garland, Texas and Beverly and John DeGraff of Granville, New York, brother Billy and Brenda Ivie of St. Louis, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, former wife and best friend Mary Dye of Waynesville, Missouri, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 5 till 8 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W. Washington, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba with Pastor Barry Ivie officiating. Interment and prayers will follow at the Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hill Cemetery in Calvin's memory. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Ivie family.
