Buddy Brummet

Buddy Brummet of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday, October 29, 1947, in Bonne Terre, Missouri to the union of John M. and Lillian L. (Adams) Brummet. He left from this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Washington at the age of 75.


Buddy was united in marriage to Debra Kamm on August 23, 1969, in St. Louis, Missouri. To this union two children were born Michael and Michele.


Buddy started working as a young boy with his father in the family grocery business at IGA Foodliner, later known as Brummet’s Food Mart. He graduated from Cuba High School Class of 1965 and received his Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Buddy and Debbie over the years owned and operated Dog & Suds in Cuba, Ben Franklin Five & Dime Store and Fairway Green Thumb in Sullivan, Brummet’s Fireworks and Forest City Packing in St. James.


Buddy loved working on the farm, whether he was on his tractor, tending to his cattle or planting his garden. He enjoyed camping, going to the State Fair every year and having a cold beverage with his family and friends.


Buddy is preceded in death by his parents John M. and Lillian L. (Adams) Brummet; one sister Cheri and husband Michael Peck.


Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of fifty-three years Debbie Brummet; two children Michael (Mary Harris) Brummet and Michele Brummet-Davis all of Cuba; seven grandchildren Jordan (James) Gilliam, Maddison Brummet, Remi Brummet, Garrett and Taylor Davis, Sydney Maisch and Ellie Kinnaird; great-grandchildren Josephine Gilliam and one on the way; one sister Cindy (Laury) West of Sullivan; one brother Jeff (Jane) Brummet of St. James; one sister-in-law Vickie (Gary) Beach of St. Peters; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.


Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.


Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Holman, officiating.


Honored to be serving as pallbearers Jacob Brummet, Jared Brummet, Katie Brummet, Wayne Shearer, Luke Miller and James Gilliam.


Interment will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.


The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Brummet family.
